Co-founder at DOZ

For years now DOZ has been revolutionizing the way that marketing is executed worldwide. From humble beginnings with a handful of clients we now service hundreds of clients with a community of thousands of marketers in more than twenty countries. In this time, we’ve learnt a lot about how to make marketing work for our clients. We’ve helped them build teams, manage complex projects, take their campaigns international, and connected them with expert marketers in a dozen different languages. But we’ve also learnt about the things that make marketing hard, the things that slow it down, and the pain points…

We’re all a product of the people who have influenced us. Our parents, our brothers and sisters, family, friends, colleagues – these people represent a world of influence in our everyday lives. Then there are the other influencers. The voices on the radio, the talking heads on the television, the politician who knows how to deliver a line, and the actress who can do the same but with a more intriguing smile. We’re influenced in our actions by the movies we watch, the billboards we pass, and the music we listen to. Marketers know this – indeed, the marketing industry…

Being a founder evolving in Startup City a.k.a San Francisco and having recently graduated from 500 Startups, I almost have to pitch my company 3 or 4 times a day – on a “normal day”. Since DOZ is not the easiest company to describe, I was tempted to use the “we are X for Y” analogy. But I hated that, because many times I got pitched this way, and many times I didn’t know either X or Y. Still, I decided to give it a try and since I wasn’t able to make a pitch in less than 30 seconds, I thought finding…

A Knockout Blackout The lights may have went out on Sunday at the Super Dome, but the lights were anything but out for marketers who were able to cleverly take advantage of the situation. The power outage gave brands the chance to gain even more marketing leverage out of what is already the biggest day for US advertisers of the year. Brands spent millions on Super Bowl commercials as they do every year. My two favorites were the Samsung “Next Big Thing” commercial with Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd apart from being hilarious it even brought up crowdsourcing, even if it was poking fun at it.…

Panda Update #24 Google tweeted last week they were releasing another update to their algorithm. This is the first in 2013 and the 24th Panda update in total. It was stated that about1.2% of English queries were expected to be affected. The Panda update focuses on quality control and reprimands sites, not just certain pages, who use poor quality content and tactics. These tactics include keyword stuffing, duplicate content, spam, and irrelevant keyword placement. Since the first update in February of 2011, these updates have become routine and rankings on “bad” sites have steadily declined. Google is taking the initiative to clean up search results so only…
